Website:
Canadian artist, Tanya Torossian, began painting
in 1997 with the bulk of her earlier work consisting of portraits

The form of the human figure and the emotion of gesture frequently
inspire her drawings and paintings. Her sculpture expresses
humor and pathos through constructions in various materials such
as bicycle boxes, sheet copper, rope, vinyl, and papier mache. Her
photography focuses on abstraction, the colors and textures in
the natural world. |

My images tend to deal with confined spaces containing certain
characters that reach out to one another but do not quite succeed
in meeting.

Dreams are easily influenced by factors
in our life and spirit, and these influences

The movement and light in a painting is what I have aimed to depict
through my paintings. I feel that a painting should touch the soul
and inspire it. I have been teaching art for 28 years in my studio,
and I have succeded in inspiring students to become successful
artists themselves. |

I’m fascinated by machinery such as how things are made.
Like many things that we take for granted in daily life, conveyor
systems that process and package food, devices that have been replaced
by automation and new technology. |

Pablo Picasso - Spanish
Painter, Sculptor, Engraver and Ceramist
b- October 25, 1881, Málaga, Spain
d - April 8, 1973, Mougins, France
Picasso's father, fortuitously, was an art teacher
who quickly realized he had a boy genius on his hands
and (almost as quickly) taught his son everything he
knew. At the tender age of 14, Picasso passed the entrance
exam to the Barcelona School of Fine Arts - in just one
day. By the early 1900s, Picasso had moved to Paris,
the "capital of the arts". There he found friends in
Henri Matisse, Joan Miró and George Braque, and
a burgeoning reputation as a painter of note.
